Overview

Once a tax has been established, it cannot be modified. To make a change to the rate of an existing you can follow these steps to create a new tax and then apply the new tax throughout the system as needed.

There are 5 easy steps to create and link a tax rule to units:
  1. Create a new tax at the correct rate needed
  2. Link the new tax to an associated unit
  3. Remove the old tax from the same unit
  4. Export the tax settings from one unit to the other applicable units
  5. Delete the old tax, if desired

This will be the tax with the corrected rate. Go to Settings > Taxes > New Tax.
It is helpful to show the change in the name (ie: 2024 Lodging Tax or Lodging Tax 6%)

Link the new tax to an associated unit.

Go to Settings > Units > click a unit to open it > Taxes tab > Add Tax Rule.

Remove the old tax from the same unit.

On the old tax, click the 3 dots (...) > Delete

Export the tax settings to all other units they apply to.

Go to Options (in upper right corner) > Import/Export Unit Info.

Delete the old tax

Once the old tax has been removed from the units, you can delete the tax if you no longer need it.

Go to Settings > Taxes > click a tax to open it > Delete.
